Google may launch a micro-blogging search engine

15 June, 2009
Google is reportedly preparing to launch a service that would index and search content from micro-blogging services like Twitter and present the results by relevancy. Some of the results from the micro-blogging search engine are also expected to be integrated with Google’s web search engine.

Although, Twitter has its own search engine the results are limited to its own site and the engine sorts and displays the results by date, not relevancy.

While there are other search engines like Tweefind that try to sort Twitter posts by relevancy and search engines like Twingly that index multiple micro-blogging sites, none of them does a great job, according to Google Operating System.

This comes as no surprise. Considering the millions of blogs that are around and the enormous popularity they enjoy, has made it mandatory for Search Engines to come up with something especially dedicated to them.

I am sure Yahoo and Bing too will follow with something similar.
