Kijiji India gets investment from Matrix Partners

eBay Inc and Matrix Partners India have announced a new partnership in Kijiji India, the online classifieds-style website that allows local communities to meet, help one another and interact over shared interests. As part of this agreement, Kijiji India will now be jointly owned by eBay and Matrix Partners.

“Our investment in Kijiji India demonstrates our continued focus on early stage investing in addition to our growth stage focus,” Avnish Bajaj, co-founder and managing director, Matrix Partners India, has said. “We have been following the early success of Kijiji with small businesses and local communities with great interest and look forward to working with the start up team to scale its offerings and successfully grow the business.”

Rajan Mehra, country manager, eBay India, has said, “We are delighted to work with Matrix Partners India to continue to grow Kijiji India. It is nice to hear the comment from Avnish Bajaj, co-founder and managing director, Matrix Partners India, that “We have been following the early success of Kijiji with small businesses and local communities with great interest it means that small businesses also has some share in market. Anyhow not so big but even ideal free classified website like http://www.hindlist.com is also emerging as a winner for its user friendly navigation methods for posting free classifieds in all catogeries.
