Sidin Vadukut named Managing Editor, LiveMint.com

HT Media has named Sidin Sunny Vadukut as managing editor of LiveMint.com, the online edition of its business daily Mint. Vadukut will replace Durga Raghunath who is leaving to join WSJ India as editor, mobile and digital product development, reports ContentSutra.

Info Edge India has said its real estate portal 99acres.com received a traffic share of 44 per cent in May 2009, whereas its competitors MagicBricks.com and IndiaProperty.com received a traffic share of 24.5 per cent and 20.3 per cent respectively, according to comScore.

Google-owned video sharing site YouTube.com has doubled the size limit of video uploads from 1GB to 2GB. According to YouTube, the move will allow its users to upload videos at a higher resolution.

Manish Agarwal joins UTV New Media as CEO

Spends on digital media to grow by 44%, mobile 600%: Study

According to a study jointly conducted by Webchutney and Juxt, spends on digital media by the top 500 marketers in India is expected to grow by 44 per cent from Rs 278 crore in 2008-09 to Rs 399 crore in 2009-10. The study also projects that the top marketers are likely to increase their ad spend on the mobile medium from the current 2 per cent of the overall digital spends to 9 per cent of the digital spends.

Fingerprinting of cyber cafe customers may soon become mandatory in Mumbai

Mumbai Police plans to make recording of fingerprints of customers mandatory at internet cafes in the city to reduce cyber crimes. However, the proposed plan has evoked sharp reactions from cyber cafe operators who fear that if the plan is implemented the number of customers visiting the cyber cafes may go down in future.

TutorVista raises $19 million from Pearson, LightSpeed, Manipal Group

Bangalore-based online tutoring company TutorVista.com, which has raised $19 million in third round funding from Pearson, LightSpeed and Manipal Group, is now gearing up for an aggressive global expansion and acquisition-led growth for the company.

TutorVista recently raised $12.5 million from the UK-based publishing giant Pearson Group and another $6.5 million from the existing investors LightSpeed Venture Partners and Manipal Education and Medical Group.
