Yahoo India named official online partner of Chennai Super Kings

19 March, 2010
Yahoo India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have signed a deal under which Yahoo India will be the official online partner of CSK and host a separate section on its cricket site Cricket.Yahoo.com providing exclusive CSK content including off-ground coverage and help build user engagement for the IPL team’s fan communities. Yahoo will also host a daily trivia contest where the winner will get a chance to meet his favourite ‘Super King’.

Yahoo has also launched a daily (five-day-a week) cricket talk show, called Yorker that will provide users a platform to post their thoughts, ask questions and exchange views on ‘special moments’ from all matches in the ongoing IPL (Indian Premier League) season during live interaction between 4 pm to 5 pm. According to the company, cricket experts like Amit Verma and other cricket commentators will jointly host the show and answer queries from fans and cricket aficionados.

Prem Panicker, managing editor, Yahoo India, has said, “Yorker is a unique way of giving viewers a chance to voice their point of views. Think of ‘Yorker’ as an online sports bar, where cricket will be discussed and consumed with passion. We are also delighted to partner with Chennai Super Kings and provide a platform for fans to interact with their cricketing icons.”

Yahoo India have made a brilliant decision as Cricket is the most popular game in India. Congratulations to Chennai Super Kings for securing what must, by all accounts be a lucrative deal.
