SlideShare has content and/or technology partnerships with leading tech companies -- LinkedIn, Facebook, Microsoft etc. SlideShare users include high profile accounts like the White House.
Job Overview: Selected candidate will be involved in various dimensions of running SlideShare, straddling across areas like content management, community interactions, content verticalization, marketing initiatives, search engine optimisation, tracking traffic trends, metrics oriented research etc. This is a very hands on role, and involves working in close co-ordination with a world class technology team.

The job profile consists of the following roles:

Content & Community:

# Updating the static content on SlideShare– application text, FAQs, error messages etc
# Responding to the feedback emails that users send us: following up, getting details about the problem, making sure it is reproducible, filing bugs
# Answering questions on the user forums / twitter / blogs
# Eliciting product insights via community channels and looping that back to the development team
# Exercise editorial control over what content gets featured on editorially controlled parts of the site

Search Engine Optimization:

# Conduct regular SEO reviews of various pages of the site.
# Work with engineers to consistently improve SEO of the site.
# Review site HTML and make suggestions for improvements for how to restructure HTML/CSS for the site
# Track set of keywords and how well they are doing in various search engines.
# Updating the static content on SlideShare– application text, FAQs, error messages etc for both readability & SEO reasons
# Optimize XML Sitemaps for various search engines. Use Google Webmaster tools to improve SEO
# Monitor and create reports in Google Analytics and other internal analytics programs.

Verticalisation Strategy:

# Helping categorize the content on the website (either through computer algorithms or manually) to promote website findability & discoverability
# Creating groups & events and making collections of documents & presentations
# Reach out to conference organisers, key influencers in important verticals

Product Management:

# Ability to conceptualise/create low level mockups of new features, do first-cut interaction design etc
# Conduct usability reviews, assign improvement bugs to developers & designers etc.
# Design and implement promotions, contests etc for the SlideShare community
Desired Skills: 4 to 5 years experience working with large websites (internet companies, doctcom, media sites) and involvement with users, content, community, SEO, product management etc.

Background: The candidate could be an engineer, MBA, content specialist, media professional etc with the requisite experience

Should have enough technology knowledge to act as a bridge between users and engineers (get feedback from users and bring that back to engineers in a form that they can solve.

Excellent knowledge of SEO, search engine algorithms; advanced knowledge of Google analytics; good understanding of web development & design, HTML, CSS and how it affects SEO.

Candidates who have handled a team of content, community or product people under them are preferred.
