Microsoft has picked up a minority stake in mobile marketing firm Affle for an undisclosed amount. Affle, which currently has a presence in India, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and UK, plans to use the proceeds for building operations and expanding its presence in India and overseas.
“We have an office in Delhi and now we are looking at Mumbai and Bangalore. Also, we are running test pilots in the US, the UK and Australia and expect to launch services by the end of this year or early next year,” Anuj Khanna, CEO, Affle, has said. [Source: Economic Times]
Microsoft hopes that Affle’s SMS2.0 service will be able to help boost the usage of many of the Windows Live services and MSN content on mobile, and also create a large volume of new mobile advertising inventory.
Sanjay Chheda, vice president, consumer and online business for the Greater Asia Pacific Region, Microsoft, has said, “SMS2.0 is a great channel for us to help further spur the adoption of Windows Live and MSN services amongst consumers in Asia.”

Doesn't seem like bad days for MVAS or M-Advertising, if this is the kind of money companies are raising
