02 July, 2009

"
I think the second and the third screen will play an important role in building brands and consumer loyalty going forward. You watch the first screen (TV) from a distance, look into the second screen (PC) from nearer distance (two feet away) and then you have your third screen (mobile) with you 24 x 7 and very close to you. How effectively you use these third and second screens is the way forward for any brand. "
But it seems Mr agarwal is also prone to jumping ships at short notice and was in fact shunted out of Microsft as well. God save UTV
Yes You are right! But I am not sure T N Prabhu and why he keep quitting real fast, must be something wrong!
However I really can pray for New Media who needs a miracle as most of there New Media Activities are really not up to the mark, or I am in the same space and have seen better Young Entreprenuer's running there firms more aggressively!
Either most people figure out in 18-24m that something wrong or he has been making taking many wrong decisions..
BTW some time back they acquired ITnation which was run by young enterpreneur - but soon he cashed out of new media.
Wonder why TNP does not last too long anywhere ?
May be he is in a hurry to reach many places..
From what is heard, there were some unrealistic projections made (again reaching places :)which couldnt save him.
Manish will have a tough job. Wish him luck.
This is a great news for UTV New media cause of the expertise and knowledge Manish will bring with him. Media business is becoming very competitive and it will require innovative practices by a company to survive and move ahead and by this move, UTV is moving ahead.
With regards to New Media I have to agree with the earlier commentator Ms Jehengir that UTV is pretty much down there with regards to there New Media activities and there Acquisitions too!
However all the best to Mr Agarwal!
WHy is this story important?! I have never seen so far a single exciting or unique thing from UTV New Media, They have done wonderfully well in Bollywood and exactly the opposite in TV and New Media, Especially New Media
