Ibibo.com creates web application to promote Yash Raj Films’ New York

24 June, 2009
Yash Raj Films has partnered with social networking site Ibibo.com to promote its latest movie New York, starring John Abraham, Katrina Kaif, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Irrfan. The movie is releasing on 26th June 2009. Under the deal, Ibibo has created a web application for New York. The application invites Ibibo.com users to upload their pictures featuring their friends.

According to Ibibo, its online community will be asked to vote for a group of friends showcased via the uploaded entries. The winning group of friends will then get to meet one of the stars of the film, New York. “The film’s theme (friendship) gels with Ibibo’s core value which is expression, recognition and making friends through online social engagement,” Ashish Kashyap, CEO, Ibibo.com, has said.

Siddhartha Deshaprabhu, associate director, entertainment marketing, Ibibo.com, has added, “This association enables Yash Raj Films to create an engaged community for its latest movie and in helping Ibibo provide a larger than life, money can’t buy experience for its user base.”

Another vague Ibibo app. No wonder they continue to circle the drain on a sloooow death spiral.

It has become just an ego-feeding machine for Ashish Kashyap, and I wonder how long the suckers from South Africa will continue to fund it.

This is all Gimikis form ibibo. The CXO's in ibibo don't do any social networking, when you send a invite they don't even have the courtesy to respond to your invite. They preach social networking only to other people. They don't have a sustainable revenue model and hoping that they could create one they have been working for 4 years now. This company is there only to feed the belly of few people with huge salaries. NOT ONE REVENUE MODEL TILL DATE.

any sells under "so called" community. good for Ibibo getting actors for free, but stupid way for YRF to do a contest can be 1000 time better.
