Games2win attracts over 13 million users a month: comScore

24 June, 2009
Online gaming company Games2win has said its games attracted over 13 million unique users in the extended web category and about 5 million users in the portal category, according to comScore. The internet research firm also found that just considering the extended web count alone (and excluding the portal), Games2win is now in the top 20 online gaming sites in the world.

“We knew that more people played our games outside of Games2win.com but we had no clue to the estimate. comScore measures this as extended web -- meaning the web beyond the original site (in our case Games2win.com),” Alok Kejriwal, co-founder and CEO, Games2win, has said.

“Lots of our games are played on sites outside of Games2win.com. We encourage this since it enhances the reach and consumption of our games. At the same time, we have complete control on the ads in our games since they are connected real time to our servers and request ads based on geography and specific URL's of the long tail and individual sites,” Alok Kejriwal has added.

Vizisense has also launched its panel based analytics in India. Yet another service with highly unclear methedology. I saw few sites on vizisense and it also looks way off the mark.
I agree with Deepak that Google has the power to come up with actual data as they hold the exact information through google analytics. As per the privacy policy of google, they can do so without any legal issue. Really looking forward to that. being a media planner, I would love to see actual numbers. My experience says that everyone in Indian internet multiplies their numbers by 4. I never trust comscore, alexa, vizisense or such tools. I just take figure from each sales guy/CEOs of internet companies and divide it by 4 :-)

Another popular 3rd party tool Alexa shows Games2win rank as 3375 which is equivalent to sites getting less than million visitors a month - I have never seen sites showing such drastic difference in numbers between comscore & alexa - its +/- 20% max

Google Trends shows only 50k daily unique visitors for Games2win.com across all regions (not just India Alok)

I tend to believe google numbers as they touch 90% of the internet population's behavior as compared to comScore who have just 0.2% of internet population as part of their panel.
Comscore is like a research study extrapolated to show approximate real numbers. Anybody can pay ComScore to get their numbers fixed as even ComScore will never tell you the exact way of arriving at all figures for a particular site.
Ideally google should make google analytics data public as I believe half of web companies uses that as a primary tool.

This proves that without a authetic tool it is really difficult to trust on figures driven out of comscore even

Sandeep:

Just check your google trend report - you only checked India data.

Please enter 'all regions' and lo and behold...

Also, understand that the number validates our 'on site' traffic of 5 million uniques - the 13 million is the count of games played 'off' our site.

Vishal:

I dont know where you have seen 'crazy' advertising of our site around the web - games2win has 13million + traffic only on account of viral traffic!

It is really dificult to believe this figure, I just checked on Google trends , it shows that in the past one year games2win.com had a daily unique user count of just 10-15K per month. April2009 figures just hardly touch 10K unique users. This proves that without a authetic tool it is really difficult to trust on figures driven out of comscore even. its loosing its credibility of being a trustworthy tool anymore. check this out

i'd be very eager to see what kind of stickyness and replay value their games have because most of what i have played is downright substandard. Anyone with deep pockets and marketing budgets can easily end up serving and distributing low quality web games through a large number of sites online. Its really not rocket science... just a matter of how much money you have and brute force use of google adwords. Also, they have gone crazy advertising their site around the web - and i would bet that games2win, as its own entity, is probably losing money. Anyone have a different opinion? would love to hear...
